About Us
Congregation KJBS now counts more than 100 families as members, hosts daily minyanim for all tefillot, and is one of Chicago's longest-standing congregations. We are proud of how each member brings his or her own story to our cohesive community, which includes members with a multi-generational history at our shul and those newer to the city or KJBS. Our kehilla is more than just a congregation for prayer and learning; we are a family.
Learning
KJBS is committed to promoting Jewish learning for all. To that end, we feature a wide variety of learning opportunities. During the year, we host a weekly parsha shiur for women, given Wednesday mornings by our rabbi, Rabbi Aaron Leibtag. Rabbi Leibtag also delivers a weekly Navi shiur each Shabbat, and periodic special shiurim throughout the year. We also host a daily Daf Yomi shiur given by Rabbi Eliezer Eisenberg.
As communal engagement is one of our core values, throughout the year we also host Shabbatonim in conjunction with other organizations, such as Chicago's YU Torah Mitzion Kollel, Hillel Torah North Suburban Day School and Yachad/NJCD. We also host scholar-in-residence weekends with renowned Jewish leaders from around the world. We also maintain a sizable Bet Midrash library, with thousands of sefarim in Hebrew and English, to which all are welcome 24/7/365. Our goal is to offer our members and the community a variety of settings for rich Jewish learning
Prayer & Worship
KJBS holds daily Ashkenzaic minyanim for Shacharit, Mincha and Maariv, as well as two Shacharit minyanim on Shabbatot and Yamim Tovim.
Now, as always, Congregation KJBS is your home.
